I think most of us know that Mathematics has a lot of formulas. Even to find the probability of dice we need mathematics, even to calculate the area of a circle or even a triangle, we have formulas. That is why Mathematics is made of 50% formulas.

If you list all the formulas in Mathematics, I think you cannot finish them like a year or even you have 10 years to do so.

25% Proof📚

As we get a higher level of education, we will get used to proving as we learn many delicious theorems, corollary and lemma *can you differentiate all these three?*

25% Imagination📚

You cannot do maths without imagination. If you read without imagination, you really can lose in a jungle without knowing what is actually happen. Maths without imagination is just like a cheesecake without cheese

Maths in Subject

Are you majoring in Mathematics? Are you majoring in Biology? Are you majoring in Management? Or are you majoring in arts? Can you tell me what is the subject that does not involve in Mathematics?

The answer is every subject applied in Mathematics *gulp*

Yes, every subject applied in Mathematics even it is not a science subject. For an example :  Management, Arts and even Culinary?

*Huh?* Yes, I am not joking. Even the pages are written in number. Am I right that every subject involve in Mathematics? LOL sorry, this is just an intro and I am just kidding😉

This is just my random post. I am not going to each subject into details.

Culinary

✍️ This course involve in delicious foods. Learning culinary is not something that we cook using our heart. Everything has to be measured. Even to cook omelet we have to measure how many eggs to use and how much salt and onion just to balance their taste. Have you eaten your dinner? Let’s imagine the taste of omelet together!

✍️ Do you know that law subject requires the usage of number as well? Of course yes. The number can be found in every Acts and Statutes. The numbers are important to differentiate every rule in this course. Wrong section will lead to wrong application. Mathematics is not just an operation. A single number like 1 is also considered as Mathematics. Let’s digest some other foods now.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics

✍️ As we know, mathematics applied the most in these three science subject. We have to calculate the population in Biology, we have to calculate the momentum in Physics and we have to calculate density in Chemistry. A boy swimming is an example of density as he needs enough oxygen in his body to become less dense than the water.

Yeah! Maths questions can be so confusing sometime but it actually makes Maths more fun and exciting plus its teach us to be creative to solve problems.

Maths in The Shape of Food

Do you ever imagine about the shape of food involve in mathematics? We love to eat but we never imagine about mathematics in the shape of food.  Since we are in kindergarten, the teachers always teach us using colorful foods to make it more fun and attractive. There are some examples I will show you to munch. Feel the taste!

Area of circle = 2πr² : Have you ever calculate the area of pancake using above formula?

Area of cylinder = 2πrh + 2πr² : We can determine the area of bottle of pringles using above formula and do you know that pringles is a typical example of a hyperbolic  paraboloid?

Lollipop is an example of circle food shape.

Samosa, slice of cake, slice of pizza, slice of watermelon are example of triangle food shape

Egg is an example of oval food shape

Even to learn fraction, we use pie. Even to make a honeystar shaped we can use mathematics. Feel the sweetness?

Square box, round pizza, triangle slices. And sometimes we can find rectangular shape as the topping. Isn’t it fun? We can see three different shapes in one food.  Mathematics is actually fun when we relate to our daily life. There will always be sweetness after bitterness.

Is 1 a Prime Number???

We have been exposed about odd numbers, even numbers, composite numbers, prime numbers and a lot lot lot of numbers in mathematics since primary school.

Out of all those numbers mentioned above, I am very excited to share a delicious discovery about Prime Number (The Atoms of Mathematics).

A SIMPLE DEFINITION OF PRIME NUMBER

  • a whole number which cannot be divided by any other whole number except 1 and itself

Have you eat THE FIRST 25 PRIMES? Did you tasted the sourness in it? I did! The sour taste trigger me to argue WHY 1 IS NOT A PRIME NUMBER?

From the definition, it is clearly seen that 1 can be divided by 1 and of course ITSELF! But why it is excluded from the primes? Lets kick the sour out 😋

First of all, we should recall the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic.

FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF ARITHMETIC

  • every positive whole number can be written as a UNIQUE product of primes

Lets take a bite on this simple snacks;

Take 10 (ten) as an example. Assume 1 is a prime number. By using the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, we have:

10 = 2 x 5 or 5 x 2 (we don’t really mind the order)

10 = 1 x 2 x 5

10 = 1 x 1 x 2 x 5

10 = 1 x 1 x 1 x 2 x 5 (and so on)

From here, we can see if 1 is a prime  then we wouldn’t have a UNIQUE way of writing 10 as the product of prime numbers. So, that is why 1 is EXCLUDED from the list of prime number.

Yummmyy! We solved the mystery of Prime Number deliciously. 🍦
